Japanese baseball star and shortstop for the national team, Sōsuke Genda, has admitted to visiting entertainment establishments and having an extramarital affair.

On the 12th, Genda issued a public apology via his channel, stating, "I sincerely apologize for my thoughtless actions that have caused discomfort and concern. I deeply regret causing my wife pain and sadness."

He continued, "I have had a direct conversation with my wife about this matter, and we have decided to move forward together as a couple. I will strive to make amends through my performance in baseball."

Genda made his professional debut in 2017 and gained popularity when he was selected for the national team. He currently plays for the Saitama Seibu Lions.

In 2019, Genda married Misa Eto, a former member of the Japanese girl group Nogizaka46, and the couple has two children. However, it was recently revealed that Genda had been involved in an extramarital affair with a woman in her twenties who works at an entertainment venue for nearly a year. This affair came to light during the 2024 WBSC Premier 12 tournament held in Taiwan in November, causing a stir.

In response, Eto apologized on behalf of the couple, stating, "I am sorry for causing a disturbance with personal matters. We have decided to move forward together. I will support my husband so that he can focus on baseball."
