Following the criticism over her wearing a hat during a recent recording of "Radio Star," Goo Hye-sun took to social media on January 16 to emphasize her stance by posting various photos of herself wearing different hats, including a graduation cap, a baseball cap, and a beanie. She uploaded 15 photos, stating, "Hats are my freedom. Here’s my hat collection."
The previous day, Goo Hye-sun had explained on "Radio Star" that she brought oil blotting papers to the recording because her skin is prone to acne and that without them, her makeup would be wiped off. She mentioned that she uses more than 10 blotting papers a day.
In response, host Kim Gu-ra joked, "Is your skin so tight because of all the oil? People with oily skin don't get wrinkles," and questioned why she had worn a hat, suggesting it would be better to push her hair back if there was too much oil. Goo Hye-sun explained that she wore the hat because her boiler had broken down, and she couldn't wash her hair. She added that the PD had suggested she take off the hat during the recording, but she was unable to.
The hosts laughed along with Goo Hye-sun's playful remarks, and the conversation moved on to the next topic.
However, after the broadcast, some netizens criticized her for not showing proper respect, with comments like, "It’s disrespectful to the broadcast," "No effort," "The PD must have insisted she take off the hat," and "Why didn’t she just go to the salon and prepare properly?"
On the other hand, some defended her, saying, "It suits you, don’t let it get to you," "You look great in hats," and "There are many people who wear hats during shoots, is it really wrong if they don’t wash their hair and wear hats?"
Goo Hye-sun briefly posted a statement on social media saying, "Wearing a fur hat due to personal circumstances on an entertainment show, which is meant to bring laughter, is not an act of bad attitude or disrespect, it is my freedom. However, I do appreciate the criticism." She later deleted the post shortly after sharing it.
